On October 7, 2024, EFESA successfully achieved the recertification of `Parque de Los Llanos´ project under the prestigious Gold Standard voluntary emissions reduction accreditation mechanism consolidating our ongoing commitment to generate renewable energy while operating with highest standards of sustainability.

The new accreditation period runs from February 23, 2024, to February 22, 2029, maintaining the project’s status as a Gold Standard Certified Project. This renewal confirms that EFESA continues to generate positive impacts, both local communities and the environment, accelerating the transition towards a low-carbon economy and contributing directly to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those Certified SDG Impacts by Gold Standard: SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

Since its founding, EFESA maintains the same level commitment to promote a more sustainable future, creating social, economic, and environmental value in each initiative. We celebrate the commitment of our Legal and Regulatory Affairs team, who achieved this recertification and extend our thanks to VERIFT Brasil (Validation & Verification Body (VVB) of Gold Standard), whose rigorous evaluations played a crucial role in providing the independent confirmation required to ensure the project complies with Gold Standard´s requirements.

Parque de Los Llanos solar park, owned by EFESA and located in Chamical, La Rioja, Argentina, stands as the first and only photovoltaic solar project in South America to achieve Gold Standard certification in 2020 and, in 2024, to obtain recertification through the successful approval of the Crediting Period Renewal.

About Gold Standard
Gold Standard for the Global Goals is an innovative certification standard for impact, bringing credibility and integrity to the global mission of climate security and sustainable development. This accreditation mechanism reunites numerous methodologies and requirements, supported by robust safeguards and principles, enabling reliable measurement, reporting, and verification of the positive impacts
generated by climate and sustainable development initiatives. It ensures that climate action also contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals.
A Gold Standard Certified Project indicates that its design and planning of the project meet the Gold Standard for the Global Goals requirements, including Safeguard Principles, Stakeholder Engagement, and SDG requirements, along with the creation of a Monitoring Plan. Additionally, it means the project has been validated by a Gold Standard-approved Validation & Verification Body (VVB). Finally, the project is reviewed and approved by the Official Certification Body for Gold Standard for the Global Goals, SustainCERT.

According to Annex I of ENRE Resolution No. 558/2022 (which provides that private transmission lines belonging to the agents must be incorporated into the certification of their Environmental Management System, regardless of whether their operation and maintenance are carried out by another company), Empresa Federal de Energía S.A.

(EFESA) accomplished the scope extension audit which included the transmission line from the `Parque de Los Llanos´ solar park to the Chamical Transformer Station. The certification was successfully obtained on January 18, 2024, where Bureau Veritas Certification confirming that EFESA's Management System has been audited and found to be in accordance with the requirements of ISO 14001:2015. As a result, the scope of the Environmental Management System is defined as: “Generación de energía eléctrica a través de fuentes renovables (Energía Solar) y su transporte hacia la Estación Transformadora Chamical” (Generation of electrical energy through renewable sources (Solar Energy) and its transport to the Chamical Transformer Station).

Additionally, EFESA formalized the incorporation of the transmission line within the scope of the Environmental Management System by updating its Environmental Policy (PL-GA-01 Rev. 5 ).
